Evan gold
Project Manager, NDD
As Project Manager, Evan is constantly reconciling the goals and objectives of a project with the realities of timelines, checkpoints, and deliverables. He coordinates permits, vendors, supplies, logistics, scheduling and manpower. Then he provides a supervisory overview of the process to successfully see a project through to completion.
He has a unique ability to step back and bring order to a myriad of seemingly unrelated things.
Evan came to the NDD after many years as a television producer at PBS. He was looking for something different, and he was attracted to the nonprofit sector because he had seen that nonprofits tend to be made up of small, designated teams of highly capable people. It’s an environment he thrives in, and he found it at the NDD.
Evan has been at the NDD for almost two years, and in 2024, he presided over approximately 50 projects. Juggling that range and quantity is exciting to him. Because the NDD is such a unique organization, he spent a long time listening and learning about what the NDD does, how they do it, and what makes them successful. He is proud of the deep understanding he has achieved.
“I love the range of the projects and the demanding nature of the work. You must show up and be engaged and solve the right problems. I like that it is different all the time, and I really like the teamwork.”
“I like that this job is demanding of me. You must show up and be engaged and solve the right problems.”
On dress-down Fridays, you will see Evan wearing a pair of his beloved sneakers around the city. He is a sneakerhead, owning over 20 pairs. He often gets comments from strangers because his taste is eclectic and individual. Though convention may dictate that the “best” sneakers are the rare ones or those designed by celebrities, Evan prefers to judge every style on its own merits.
This individuality has led him to the NDD and the work he finds so satisfying. “People need to learn what they need out of life. It’s not the same for everybody and it might not be something that popular culture or popular opinion will tell us. Everyone needs to learn for themselves what will be meaningful for them.”
