Boosting Team Spirit

TRACI COBB

Team Leader Supervisor, NDD

Traci loves her job. As a leader of 11 ambassadors, she is always ready to encourage her team and keep them focused and energized as they complete their daily cleaning tasks on their routes throughout the Newark Downtown District footprint. She ensures they all have the right equipment, are assigned
to a specific route, and that everyone understands what they are responsible for accomplishing that day.

But it’s the spirit Ms. Cobb brings to the job that makes the greatest difference. She began working as an ambassador for the NDD in 2020. With her background in residential and daycare cleaning, she was an ideal candidate for the job, and gradually realized she was well suited for a supervisory position. Though she had no previous supervisory experience, Traci recognized that her background and her personality combined would make her a great fit for the position.

Always expect the unexpected.

“I saw the opportunity. I like to help people, I had a lot of experience as an ambassador, and I was able to offer good advice and lead by example. I wanted to challenge myself and elevate to the next level.”

Traci’s positivity keeps her team motivated and encouraged. Because she is familiar with their jobs, she can answer their questions and keep them from getting overwhelmed. She is tuned in to the various needs and personalities of her team and truly enjoys listening to them and providing support in any way she can.

Ms. Cobb brings her best to the job each day, taking pride in being on time and getting her team ready to tackle the work at hand. “We are all working together for the same goals,” she says. “I know that no one can ever know what other people are going through, so I come in with my jolly spirit, tell them what it is we need to do, and we get out there.”

What does she think of the people of Newark? “Busy! They are taking care of business every day. And they notice the good job that we do.”
